Daybreak Corporate Center (2008) FFKR

Daybreak is a mixed-use community development located at the base of the Oquirrh Mountains. The Daybreak Corporate Center is the first commercial development in Daybreak. It was designed to embody the principles of walkable communities and sustainable design.

Its intent was to create a sense of an urban place within walking distance of the residential neighborhood and to provide a convenient location for neighborhood services as well a work destination. The Daybreak Corporate Center will house offices on the upper floors and small shops on the ground floor.

The materials and massing were chosen to encourage pedestrian activity, social interaction, and neighborhood security. The office building needed to be enduring in nature, flexible and adaptable to changing needs through generations of businesses and tenants. The materials used include metal panels, wood, glass curtain walls, and concrete.

In addition, the building was designed to meet Daybreak’s strict standards of sustainability. This building has been submitted to the United States Green Building Council for consideration as a Platinum level LEED certified building. The design strategies for sustainability included a high efficiency cooling system, solar panels on the roof, high performance glass, daylighting and views in all occupied spaces, and drought tolerant landscaping.
